Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari Industry encouraged to convert biomass into biofuel to help reduce India’s dependence on fossil fuel and become self-reliant production of green fuel technology,
“The industry must invest in large-scale production green fuel From biomass,” Gadkari said while addressing the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Bio Energy Summit 2024 On Monday.
Gadkari said, “Our goal is to make India a US$ 5 trillion economy, but it is difficult unless we reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and adopt alternative methods of fuel production that are clean and cost-effective “
According to Gadkari, India’s fossil fuel economy This is Rs 22 lakh crore whereas the biofuel economy is only Rs 2 lakh crore. “There is huge scope for expansion and it is a win-win situation for all stakeholders,” he said.
Gadkari believes that in view of fluctuating fuel prices and global uncertainty, it is necessary to make India self-reliant in fuel production.
“The transition to large-scale production of biofuels will increase farmers’ income, help in employment generation and increase agricultural growth rate to more than 20%,” he said.
Reiterating that transportation, storage and necessary infrastructure of biomass remains a challenge in producing it on a large scale. bio fuelGadkari said that we need a holistic solution to make these projects economically viable.
“There is a huge cost of transporting biomass and setting up fuel stations is expensive. So we need end-to-end solutions ranging from production, transportation and fuel pumps to ensure that these projects are viable for the private sector,” he said.
-Gadkari said Indian Oil 400 ethanol pumps are in the process of being installed across India and most of these are likely to come up in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra as these states have seen high production of ethanol.
