Woman killed, 10 injured in shooting in southern Israel


A 25-year-old woman was killed and 10 others were wounded in a shooting in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, local officials said.

The gunman was killed at the scene of what police described as a “suspected terrorist attack” at the city’s central bus station.

Footage posted online, which the BBC could not verify, showed people dead or injured inside the McDonald’s.

Israel’s ambulance service said medics were treating ten victims, some of whom were shot.

One woman is in a “moderate to serious” condition and four others are in a “moderate condition”, the ambulance service said.

He has been taken to the nearby Soroka Hospital.

Immediately after the attack, Israel’s Transport Minister Miri Regev called for the families of “terrorists” to be deported from the country.

“The time has come for harsher punishment to stop attacks on Israeli territory,” he wrote on Twitter.
