Detectives said “a single man” threw a substance at the teenagers before fleeing on an electric scooter on Harrow Road.

Teigen’s father Corey MacFarlane said, “Words cannot express the shock, pain and trauma” that his daughter is going through “physically and emotionally.”

He said he was initially discharged from the hospital, but was later readmitted.

The 16-year-old boy was treated in hospital and has now been allowed to go home.

In an online post, Mr MacFarlane said: “Teigen’s injuries are not life-threatening at this time, but it is still early days, and she will require considerable rest”.

Mr McFarlane said his family would leave the area.

He thanked the public for donations made through an online fundraiser, which he said would help his family relocate “which has become necessary due to our circumstances”.

She said the attack had a “profound impact” on her daughter’s mental health and she has said she does not want to return to school.

He wants the 14-year-old to continue her GCSE studies with a private tutor, which is funded by public donations.
