PLI scheme will bring estimated investment of Rs 2 lakh crore: Piyush Goyal, ETCFO

New Delhi [India]September 29 (ANI): Investment of Rs 2 lakh crore is expected with the help of production linked incentives (PLI) Scheme, Commerce Minister said Piyush GoyalAfter interaction with the beneficiaries of the scheme.

The minister said, the earlier estimate was Rs 1.3 lakh crore.

“Our expectation was that we would see an output of Rs 11 lakh crore. Hearing some figures today (during talks), my own impression is that the output (also) will be much higher than our expectation,” he said. ,

He told reporters after interacting with PLI beneficiaries that the sectors attracting PLI schemes are starting to roll out.

“Now they are in a position to invest even without any further support because the demand has been created,” he said.

The minister also said PLI scheme It has the potential to add about 12 lakhs direct jobsApart from indirect jobs.

After the interaction with the Minister, many representatives of PLI beneficiary companies also shared their experiences.

Jayen Mehta, MD Amulsaid it has committed a crime investment Worth around Rs 800 crore under PLI. He thanked the government for including the food processing sector in the incentive scheme.

Shail Singh Solanki, senior general manager, Merrill Life Sciences, said PLI helped his company expand its business globally.

Dr. Rajeev Chhibber, Vice President, Sahajanand Medical Technologies, said that his company is manufacturing four major medical devices including cardiac stents and heart valves.

“These items were earlier imported and we are trying to make imports unnecessary,” he said. “We are also trying to make these essential items available to the public at affordable prices.”

As part of its self-reliant and Make in India As per the plan, the government will launch production incentive (PLI) schemes in 14 sectors in 2020 to make Indian manufacturers globally competitive, attract investments, increase exports, integrate India into the global supply chain and reduce import dependence.
