Apple’s macOS Sequoia update is causing problems with many security tools

Apple Stable version of macOS 15 update rolled out, also known as macOS Sequoiaon Monday for all users. However, it appears that the update has caused some unexpected issues for users, especially around third-party security tools. According to a report, the Cupertino-based giant’s operating system (OS) is malfunctioning network-based security software by Microsoft, CrowdStrike, and others. Since security tool makers provide enterprise-grade tools, the update has put businesses running exclusively on Mac devices at risk. Currently, the cause of the problem is unknown.

TechCrunch Reports The macOS Sequoia update has affected the functionality of security tools developed by Microsoft, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, and other manufacturers. The publication cited a Mac-focused Slack channel where many users complained about the issue.

Gadgets 360 staff members also found several threads on Reddit where users found that security apps were not working after updating macOS. Some claimed that the lack of support for security tools could be due to several glitches in the operating system.

a user Said“Surprising it’s not supported yet. Beta has been available for a while, dev builds have been available even earlier – I think they have a dev account. Unless there’s something really, really bad on Apple’s side – there’s no excuse.”

The main concern with this issue is that Mac devices are used exclusively by many organizations, and issues with security systems can pose a huge risk. According to the report, a sales engineer from CrowdStrike mentioned in the above-mentioned Slack room that the security tool will not be supported on day one despite the company’s best efforts. It is unclear if the tool is currently supported.

Another Reddit user claimed The macOS Sequoia issues are affecting apps other than security tools as well. Users found that about 90 percent of apps on the M1 Max-powered MacBook Pro were plagued with issues. “Wi-Fi issues were also faced, with the phone not being able to fully access the internet despite being connected to a hotspot[..]He said, “If the situation remains the same, I will not do anything at work tomorrow.”

Will Dorman, a security researcher, Posted On Mastodon, they reported that they encountered problems with DNS for several apps as well as the firewall not working properly on their device. As of now, Apple has not released any statement on when these issues will be fixed.
