McCann New Delhi and Ogilvy Mumbai win ‘Agency of the Year’ at Effie Awards 2024, ET BrandEquity

Effie Worldwide, the global marketing effectiveness practitioner, holds its annual awards ceremony recognizing advertisers and their initiatives globally. Started in 1968, the Effie celebrates effectiveness worldwide with more than 55 events spanning more than 125 markets.

The prestigious award reveals its shortlist of 121 finalists for the 2024 finalists award Tze Kiat Tan, chairman of BBDO, and the eight jury heads – Chris Ikee of TBWAHakuhodo, Danielle Jin of Visa, Josephine Tan of Diageo, Lex Bradshaw-Zenger of L’Oreal, Linda Hsuan of Domino’s Pizza, Publicis GroupeNick Handel of MRM/McCann Worldgroup and Rob Gilbey of Dentsu.

India placed strongly with 47 of the 121 finalists selected, followed by Australia and New Zealand in a tie for second place with 19 finalists each, and Singapore with 13. Leading the agency network were Ogilvy with 34 finalists, DDB Worldwide with 19 finalists and Pregnancy with 9 finalists. For marketers, McDonald’s leads the way with 11 finalists, followed by The Coca-Cola Company with 8 finalists and Grab with 5 finalists.

When it came to the awards ceremony, India once again took the lead by winning 34 out of 88 awards. EffigiesAfter that Australia is second with 15 Effigies and New Zealand is third with 13 Effigies. If we look at the medals of India, it has won 7 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 14 bronze medals. It is worth mentioning that, McCann New Delhi got second place for ‘Agency of the Year’. Looking at all the gold medals won, Ogilvy Gurgaon won the gold medal in the non-alcoholic beverages category for The Coca-Cola Company’s ‘Joke in a Bottle’ campaign.

The Womb won the award in the Food category for Britannia Industries’ ‘Can a Cookie Teach You How to Live?’ campaign.

Leo Burnett MumbaiAlong with EssenceMediaCom Bangalore/Ransom Film, Flipkart Internet won the award in the Asia Pacific Brands-Services category for its ‘Drive 1.4 Billion Visits in a Country of 1.4 Billion’ campaign and PepsiCo India won the award in the Business-to-Business category for its ‘Help Farmers Fight Climate Change’ campaign.

McCann New Delhi won the award in the Branded Utility and Small Budget-Services category for Ujjivan Small Finance Bank’s ‘An envelope for women’s financial destiny’ campaign.

Mondelez India Won the award for ‘My Birthday Song’ in the Experiential Marketing – Product category in association with Ogilvy Mumbai and Wavemaker Mumbai.

Apart from the gold, India also faced tough competition to win the silver award. Brand David Mumbai won the award in the Beauty & Health category for Colgate Palmolive India’s ‘Don’t brush your teeth with sweets!’ campaign.

McCann New Delhi was honoured for Ujjivan Small Finance Bank’s ‘An Envelope for Women’s Financial Destiny’ campaign in the Finance category and Paytm’s ‘Making Money Speak’ campaign in the Business-to-Business category.

Ogilvy Mumbai and sister agency Wavemaker India won the award in the Food category for Mondelez India’s ‘Cadbury 5Star Presents the Mush Detector’ and ‘My Birthday Song’. Ogilvy Mumbai was awarded in the Asia Pacific Brands – Services category for Vodafone Idea’s ‘Human Network Testing Telecom Networks’ campaign.

BBDO Mumbai was awarded in the Home/Household Products & Services category for Procter & Gamble India’s ‘See the Signs of Silent Separation’ campaign.

Womb was awarded in the IT/Telco category for Truecaller India’s ‘Spam to Savior: A Bharat Journey’ campaign. The agency also won for Mahindra & Mahindra’s ‘Trial by Water’ campaign in the small budget products category.

Leo Burnett Mumbai won the award in the Crisis Response/Critical Pivot – Services category for PepsiCo India’s ‘Help farmers fight climate change’ campaign. The agency also won the award in the Media Innovation category along with EssenceMediaCom Bangalore/Ransom Film for Flipkart Internet’s ‘Drive 1.4 Billion Visits in a Country of 1.4 Billion’ campaign.

DDB Mudra Group Mumbai won the award in the Marketing Disruptors category for Indeed’s ‘The Hire’ campaign.

Finally, India also made a commendable mark by winning a bronze medal. Brand David Mumbai won in the Beauty & Health category for Colgate Palmolive India’s ‘A Toothless Granny’s Cutting Machine’ campaign. It also won in the category of New Product or Service-Line Extension for ITC’s ‘A Brand Ambassador in Every Home’ campaign.

Ogilvy Gurgaon was awarded in the Beverages Non-Alcoholic category for ‘Thums Up – Toofani Biryani Hunt’ from The Coca-Cola Company.

McCann New Delhi won the award in the Finance category for Paytm’s ‘Making Money Speak’ campaign. The agency also won the award in the Carpe Diem – Services category for Ujjivan Small Finance Bank’s ‘An Envelope for Women’s Financial Fate’ campaign.

The Womb won the award in the Finance category and the Positive Change Social Good category: Brand – Services, for Piramal Capital and Housing Finance’s ‘Niyat. Nahi Jaante Kya Hai? Aap Jaanenge!’ campaign.

Ogilvy Mumbai received the award for Vodafone Idea’s ‘Human Network Testing Telecom Networks’ campaign in the IT/Telco and Corporate Reputation category. The agency also received an award for Unilever India’s ‘When the Monsoon Created a Tea Symphony’ campaign in the Experiential Marketing – Products category.

Ogilvy Mumbai, in association with contributing agencies Chrome Pictures Mumbai / Mindshare Mumbai / MSL Group Mumbai, won the award in the Positive Change Social Good: Brands – Products category for Hindustan Unilever’s ‘Dove’s Journey from Being Good to Loved’ campaign.

DDB Group Mumbai won the award in the Business-to-Business category for Indeed’s ‘The Hire’ campaign and in the David vs Goliath (Situational) category. The agency also won the award in the Sustained Success – Product category for Royal Enfield (Eicher Motors)’s ‘From Irrelevancy to Iconicity’ campaign.
