MATBUS launches first buses with competition-winning design

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – On April 15, Kaylee Trana of Ben Franklin Middle School learned that her submission was the top prize winner in the MATBUS contest to showcase a design on city transportation.

Today, he got to see that design for the first time on a real-life bus.

“I was coming up with something that suited Fargo. Fargo is known for the red panda,” Kaylee said, explaining the thought process that inspired her to create “Fargo ‘Go’ Green!

“I’ve been to the Red River Zoo many times in my life,” she said.

Kaylee’s entry beat out 19 others to take home the $500 cash prize. However, when asked what she would do with the money, she indicated that she would put the bulk of it toward a college fund, which shows remarkable foresight for a 12-year-old.

“Go away” green! It will now be displayed on MATBUS vehicles for the entire calendar year.
