Hyderabad: The office of the Deouty Commnissioner of Police, Special Cell Delhi in a notice issued to Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy has asked for electronic gadgets (mobile, laptop, tablet) through which they have created and uplpaded a edited video of home minister Amit Shah.
So far from Telangana Pradesh Congress Commitee have been issued notices.
Earlier, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police booked a case after a complaint was filed by a BJP leader against the video. The viral was deliberately edited to falsely claim that Amit Shah, during a public rally in Chevella in Telangana, promised to scrap the ‘unconstitutional reservation’ of Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
NewsMeter had debunked this claim on April 27. In the original video, captured by many media outlets, Amit Shah called religious-based reservations unconstitutional and talked of scraping Muslim reservations in Telangana.
The Telangana BJP unit filed a complaint to the Cyber Crime police station for fabricating and morphing the speech of Amit Shah on TPCC President Revanth Reddy.
The notice said some doctored videos are being circulated by users of Facebook and Twitter, spreading misleading information to create disharmony among communities, likely to affect public tranquillity and bring public order issues.
The FIR has not been uploaded being sensitive in nature. The date has been marked unknown and the place of occurrence has been recorded as over the Internet in Delhi and other parts of India. The case was booked under sections 469 and 505(1) of the IPC.
